Overview

The chip shop case is the kind of story that writes itself. Someone fakes an injury on the job, presumably expecting the paperwork to do the work for them, and instead ends up worse off than when they started. The phrase “well and truly battered” in the synopsis was either a genuine accident or an extremely cheerful piece of copy, but either way it describes the situation accurately. The flooding case runs alongside it, and it’s a different kind of fraud. A business owner facing genuine flood damage and then going to extraordinary lengths to inflate the claim is a pattern Rogue Claimers has covered before, but the specifics always vary. The pressure of a flood situation, the idea that the insurer can absorb it, and what investigators actually find when they dig into the numbers, that’s where these cases tend to get interesting.
