Overview
Tragedy and ultimate underdog defiance clash in an emotional weekend on the mountain. The racing community is rocked by the tragic practice loss of popular driver Mike Burgmann on Conrod Straight. On race day, the heavily backed factory Volvo and Nissan turbo outfits suffer critical issues. Seizing the moment, privateer hero Allan Grice and Graeme Bailey pilot their low-budget, yellow "Chickadee" Holden Commodore flawlessly, out-pacing the global giants to take a historic victory.
