Overview

On June 3rd, 1864, General Grant ordered an attack on entrenched Confederate defenders at a crossroads near Richmond. Seven thousand men died in twenty minutes. But, ten months later, Grant was victorious. Cold Harbor not only hastened the fall of the South, it ushered in a new era of warfare.
