Pat Field organises a party in Purlieu Park to celebrate the birthday of her daughter Gwinny. Seeing the stock of provisions, Talis thinks the Fields are preparing for a famine - he's seen enough back in his own time – and naturally enough goes hunting in Purlieu park.
