Junzo Nitta (Ikko Furuya), a 33-year-old section chief at the Forestry and Fisheries Agency, had a bright future ahead of him. Having gained a slight edge over his peers in the race for promotion, Nitta was well-regarded by his superiors and on the verge of being appointed assistant director.
