Overview
Rodolfo reprimands Afonso for inciting the people against the king. Afonso makes it clear that he does not want the throne of Montemor. Catarina tells Lucíola that she fears that Afonso and Amália will have a son who will dispute the crown. Cássio states that the solution for Montemor is to replace Rodolfo. At Rodolfo's behest, Romero informs Afonso that meetings in the tavern are prohibited and the penalty for disobedience will be imprisonment.
