Overview

German molecular biologist Axel Ullrich broadened the scientific understanding of the genetic causes of cancer and other diseases. • He made history with the discovery of the HER2/neu oncogene responsible for gene-related breast cancer. Ullrich also developed the anti-cancer drug Herceptin.
