The work of Senzeni Marasela addresses the experiences of Black South African women, particularly during Apartheid. In Women's Waiting, Women's Searching, Marasela is filmed in Venice, wearing one of these dresses and carrying suitcases. Alone among residents and tourists, she asserts her history through her mere presence.
