Overview

Witness a breakthrough athletics event which paved the way for women to compete more fully at the Olympic Games. Although the games at the time carried the prefix ‘Olympic’, these were independent and pioneered by Alice Milliat. There were no Olympic Games in 1923 and women did not take part in the track and field events until 1928.
