Overview
After years of bureaucratic wrangling, Lam Ton, a Vietnamese [refugee] who settled and found success in Chicago, was permitted to return to Vietnam. He went back, accompanied by a WTTW camera crew, and traveled throughout his homeland, observing and commenting on the changes his native land has gone through in the years since he left. "'Vietnam: A Chicagoan Goes Home' is both the story of a country that has been recovering, almost invisible to the rest of the world, from almost forty years of war, and the story of one man's reunion with his past.
