Overview
Montmartre has been a site of worship since the beginning of time: the Gallic druids, the Romans with their temples devoted to Mars and Mercury, Christians with the Church of St Peter, the oldest church in Paris. The Sacré Coeur Basilica, consecrated in 1919, is one of the emblematic monuments of Paris.
