In China, unmarried women cannot access assisted reproductive technologies, preventing lesbians from becoming biological mothers. Despite the challenges, I plan to be a mother to fulfill a promise to my parents to have children by 35. My traditional parents want a grandchild, and I cannot disregard this. Is my girlfriend willing to raise a child with me? Society’s disapproval of our relationship requires frank discussions with her and my parents.
