Overview

"From the age of thirteen onward, I’ve always had at least one teammate suffering from an eating disorder, including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, Binge Eating, Orthorexia, and Athletic Anorexia." With these words, former national team captain Gemma Galli reveals a hidden side of her career in artistic swimming, a reality she had kept hidden until now. After years of relentless dedication and sacrifice, driven by her love for the sport, Gemma reached the peak of her career by qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Yet, beneath the elegance and precision of artistic swimming, the silent struggle with eating disorders shaped both her journey and that of many athletes, ultimately moving her career in a new direction.
