Overview
Post-Soviet border demarcations in Central Asia fuel lasting territorial conflicts. Centered on Kyrgyz teen Abek’s coming-of-age, the story unfolds in a village near the Tajik border, where he was brought up by his grandmother Ene.After her death, Abek tries to inter her beside his grandfather, whose grave now lies across the redrawn frontier in Tajikistan. Amid local folklore and persistent border tensions, his tomb-seeking journey unveils lingering historical wounds plaguing Central Asian borderlands.
