Overview

In December 2004, the Comprehensive Law Against Gender-Based Violence —Ley Integral contra la Violencia de Género— was adopted in Spain with the aim of curbing the scourge of women killed at the hands of their partners. Fourteen years later, not only the number of victims has not decreased, but it has become clear that the law has created a serious situation of inequality between men and women.
