Overview
Canada has the reputation as a safe haven for LGBT people, with same sex marriage, serving in the military, and protections for sexual minorities under hate crime legislation. In Rob Easton’s insightful 2015 documentary “Safe Country”, its safer for some than it is for others. The film follows three recent refugees from different parts of the globe: Zdravko Cimbaljevic from Montenegro, Moe Sonko from Gambia and Tanaz Mehraban from Iran.
