They were in the prime of their lives and thousands of miles from home. Night after relentless night, they flew their bombers into the jaws of death braving fighters, flak and enemy artillery. They were the heroes of the Royal Canadian Air Force based at Goosepool, now Durham Tees Valley Airport in the North East of England.
