Overview
Qais recites poems about his love for his cousin Laila. Ghabeer, Qais' rival in Laila's love, commissions the poet Mamoun to compose obscene poems about Laila and publish them as Qais's. The poems reach Laila's father, who refuses to let Qais marry Laila, and marries her to Prince Ward.
