Overview

Unfortunately, the Censorship Board has tragically misunderstood its function. Its selection process should prioritize, above all, the expected artistic merit and intellectual capacity of its members. The board uses three main weapons with inexplicable cruelty: prohibition—a certain film must not be shown for three or four reasons utterly lacking in reasonable grounds, as in the case of Heroic Pages; the scissors, with which they cut scenes; and the classification system, the criteria for which are unknown. The results are as follows: 90% for men only; 8% for adults and young ladies; and 2% for children.
