Overview
OPTISCHE SCHREIE – DIE GESCHICHTE DES AACHENER WANDMALERS traces the history of German street art pioneer Klaus Paier. Between the 1970s and 1990s, Klaus Paier created around 80 illegal murals in Aachen and Cologne. His radical, political works address fascism, the Cold War, nuclear power, homosexuality, apartheid, the education system, and social injustice. Many of his murals were quickly painted over—others are now monuments. This documentary is the first comprehensive cinematic exploration of Paier’s life, work, and legacy.
