Overview

Noma, a young campesino boy from the Cusco Andes, clings to his mother Wayra’s final promise: to finish the poncho she left incomplete before she died, hoping it will help his father, Walter, overcome the deep sorrow that consumes him. However, Walter seems solely focused on saving their potato field, the family’s only source of livelihood. As the bond between father and son begins to unravel over the unfinished poncho, Noma makes a desperate decision—he trades their last remaining potatoes for a ball of yarn. When Walter finds out, Noma is forced to confess. Moved by his son’s sacrifice, Walter finally understands and the two decide to finish the poncho together. This act not only lifts Walter from his depression but also saves the potato field. In the end, Walter realizes that Wayra’s true wish was for them to mend their bond as father and son, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
