On December 14, 2019, Clémence Botino, a 22-year-old from Guadeloupe, was crowned Miss France 2020. It was the start of what should have been an exceptional, fairy-tale year for her, but one that would quickly be severely disrupted. With the coronavirus health crisis, her appearances are subject to social distancing measures, there is no audience, and her schedule has been put on hold. Last summer, a fire ravaged the historic Miss France apartment. The young woman escaped unharmed but deeply scarred.
