Overview

1810, Miguel Hidalgo abolished slavery in the Independent Mexico. 1910, John K. Turner published México Bárbaro, a book that reveals the slavery networks that operated under the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz. In 2010, amidst the celebrations for the Centennial and Bicentennial of the Mexican Revolution and Independence, the slavery networks still exist.
