Overview
Mercurius is a lunar impact crater — a complex, spiked vestige of a high velocity impact. In this spirit, the sound and image composition "Mercurius" rapidly shifts between multitudes of seemingly conflicting states. It ambiguously combines multiple sensibilities of the spiral form, which can symbolize both unity and destruction. The spiral may represent wisdom and integration (the coiled snakes on Mercury’s staff), but it can also suggest the center of a spider’s web and the all-destroying vortex.
