Markant: Pieter Muntendam

Overview

Portrait of Professor Pieter Muntendam (1901-1986), one of the founders of social medicine. Muntendam began his career as a 24-year-old village doctor in Drenthe, where deep poverty prevailed. It was there that he took up the fight against tuberculosis. Later, he became State Secretary in the Drees I cabinet.
