Madaklasht, May You Have Long Life

Overview

In the empty meadows of the Shishikuh valley in Chitral, northern Pakistan, the Madaklashti found their home. But as an Ismaili Shia minority, surrounded by Sunnis; and with the ever-looming threat of flooding, safety is not guaranteed. Through an ensemble of felled trees, religious rivalry, cascading water, eagle dance and irrigation, this documentary shares that sense of being in place.
