From c. 1300 as "a state of deep thought or contemplation, of the not-yet-so-opaque, mental perplexity or anxious thought, amazement, wonder or reverie" - Lunar (adj.) from Latin lunaris "of the moon," Luna "moon" from the greek word "Lùnca" same root of Lux and leuk, a proto-Indo-European root meaning "light, brightness."
