Overview
In an Egyptian village plagued with poverty, disease, and ignorance, the villagers try to patiently bear the scourages of a corrupt moneylender, as Fou'ad, the Pasha's son, tries to encourage them to seek reform through cooperating and standing firm in the face of greed and usury.
