Overview
In Oukout, four women meet every Sunday with their group to self-manage a microcredit system, along with the rice harvest. This food is a symbol of unity and prosperity in this area of Lower Casamance, as individualism has no place in their society. To survive, they need each other, and together they seek a balance between traditional life and economic independence.
