"If I Ever Feel Better" follows Hohlt, the main character of the film, through his journey for self discovery. Hohlt stretches himself to every extreme, convinced that it may be the answer to his internal turmoil, but he is only able to truly find solace when he rejects his belief that there will be an end to his journey and a God waiting for him.
