Overview
Searching for the “open border” between China and Vietnam, Chinese filmmaker Jiayu Yang embarks on a journey to Vietnam and encounters a very different postwar society than the romanticized version. Taking the form of a lyrical, dreamlike essay film, it explores questions of popular memory and cultural exchange while raising questions about the politics of photography itself.
