Overview

An endless line of women, bent over the towpath of the Naviglio Grande, washing clothes one after the other. It almost seems that, if Baldassini had continued his overview, the whole canal would have been filled with industrious housewives, as far as the eye could see - the same breadth that the canals offer as they head south along the Lombard countryside.
