This animated excerpt from the documentary Jamala: Songs of Freedom (2024) Directed by Beth Mendelson, illustrates the plight of a single mother and her children during the Soviet expulsion of the Crimean Tatars at the end of World War II. Based on a story passed down through three generations and told by her great-granddaughter Susana.
