Overview

A brief autobiographical portrait of the tension generated by emigrating and wanting to better oneself. Told by 21-year-old Clara, who leaves the comfort of her home and family to go to Spain to face discomfort—to encounter the effort and difficulty of that stability she already knows, but has never achieved for herself. In a style reminiscent of letters to her mother, Clara navigates class differences, loneliness, and immigration. Meanwhile, the images show us the day-to-day reality of what she left behind, what is no longer there.
