On April 8, 2024, northern Mexico witnessed a total solar eclipse, an astronomical event that captivated thousands of people. The documentary "En la sombra del eclipse" (In the Shadow of the Eclipse) captures the excitement in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, where artistic and scientific outreach activities took place. It also showcases the work of scientists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on the effects of the eclipse on our planet, and experts who convey the historical, scientific, and cultural importance of eclipses, from the beliefs of ancient civilizations to the important discoveries they have led to, such as the validation of Einstein's theory of relativity and the discovery of helium.
