On April 2, 2013, the city of La Plata suffered a devastating flood that claimed at least 89 lives. Residents fought to save themselves and others as the water surged upward. Those interviewed shared their experiences, lessons learned, fears, and current concerns: the awareness that La Plata is situated on a floodplain underscores the urgent need to develop the necessary strategies to prevent another tragedy.
