Overview

In the months right after the merger with the Santa Fe, Hal Pantti explored two of Burlington Northern’s most important main lines, the ex-Northern Pacific from Eastern Montana into Minnesota, and the ex-Chicago, Burlington & Quincy from Galesburg, Illinois to Lincoln, Nebraska. Both lines became major arteries for the coal from the Powder River Basin into the Burlington Northern era. While the BNSF was in its infancy, the footage that Hal shot is just about pure BN. In this program you’ll see a variety of the power that BN operated and the trains it pulled from a nice selection of locations!
