Overview
"Breaking Ice" features Captain Kristen Serumgard and her U.S. Coast Guard crew. The film takes place on USCGC icebreaker Healy, the largest polar icebreaker in the fleet, on a mission above the Arctic Circle. 18% serving on board are female. Honest. Bold. Often surprising. Sometimes funny. Always humane. These dedicated women mirror all Americans. Their stories reveal grit, patriotism and sacrifice. They give us reason to be proud.
