Conductor Herbert Von Karajan became one of the most legendary figures in 20th century classical music for the technical precision he brought to his work helming the world-renowned Berlin Philharmonic from 1956-1989. Recorded in Vienna on May 21-26, 1985, this performance captures Karajan leading the Vienna Philharmonic through Brahms' EIN DEUTSCHES REQUIEM with special guests Kathleen Battle on soprano and José Van Dam on baritone.
