Overview
On July 17, 1794, 16 members of the Carmel of Compiegne, France were martyred during the French Revolution. They bravely walked to the guillotine singing hymns and offering their lives, “so that peace may be restored to the Church and the State.” The Nuns were beatified in 1906 and canonized on December 18, 2024 by Pope Francis.
