Overview
Arbitrary follows the story of a married couple struggling with infertility; explores relationship dynamics by having its characters speak a gibberish/fictional language, therefore unable to understand each other's words, creating a natural set-up for comedy. It also probes the relationship between humans and language - how language, ironically, often prevents us from conveying our truest thoughts. Finally, the film also speaks about gender roles - in cinema and in life.
