Overview
Despite being short-lived, Aesthetics made a profound impact on the industry, and its one and only video, 2001's Ryde or Die Vol. 1, is one of the most underrated titles of its time. Showcasing a heavy crew of East Coasters, Rob Welsh, Joey Pepper, and Kevin Taylor among them, this video was simple in the best way possible. But that's not to say the skating was basic; John Igei switch heelflip backside tailslide up the step at Pier 7. So if you grew up with only a box and a bank-to-ledge to skate, Ryde or Die got you hyped to go out. And, thanks to Welsh's part, it also compelled you to wear giant sweatpants and tall tees. Most of us would never get those gold fronts, though.
