Overview
In a minimalist allegory for a water-scarce future, “A State of Thirst” addresses the human body’s most basic need and the struggle to fulfill it. In a bare landscape, an exhausted young man comes upon a bottle of water on top of a very high pole. The creative tenacity of his acrobatic attempts to scale the pole and reach the bottle culminate in an unexpected result. With this simple tale, the film strips down focus to a single body, idea, and state of mind that reflects the global ecological disaster of water scarcity and people living in perpetual thirst.
