Features over six hours of 1997 interviews with Stephen Sondheim over the course of three days in his Manhattan home. The discussions focus on the compositional process (rather than the lyrical one) of six of his projects in reverse chronological order: Passion, Assassins, Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park with George, Sweeney Todd, and Pacific Overtures.
